Did you add a little black square to Instagram in the name of #BlackLivesMatter? Then you pledged to listen and learn about Black history: not just in other countries around the world, but right here in London and the rest of the UK.

The problem though, with flicking through history books or browsing the internet, is the lack of emotional connection.
What about if you could hear and see the real people behind the stories?

Well, @vestryhousemuseum is making that possible. Their photography exhibition, titled ‘We Are Here’, documents the lives of the #WindrushGeneration residents of Waltham Forest, who came to the UK from the Caribbean in the 1950s to the 1970s.

Until Sunday November 1, you can browse the gallery’s 50 new photographic portraits as well as over 100 personal family pictures, mementos and oral testimonies. You’ll discover exactly how they contributed to the community in numerous and surprising ways!
